To enhance cloud managed services and Viya Workbench, SAS Institute broadens its partnership with AWS.

Two significant announcements were made on Thursday by Amazon Web Services Inc.and data analytics provider SAS Institute Inc.

According to the company, which also extended its SAS-hosted Managed Services to the AWS platform, SAS Viya Workbench, a new dedicated offering for artificial intelligence development within SAS Viya, will launch in the second quarter in the AWS Marketplace. Customers now have more options for configuring and running cloud-based solutions thanks to the strategic additions made to the SAS Managed Services portfolio.

“The portfolio of SAS Managed Services is still doing very well. According to SAS Institute Chief Information Officer Jay Upchurch (pictured, left), it’s most likely the segment of the organization that is expanding the fastest. The announcement we made today about AWS broadens our portfolio’s offering of hosted managed services. Our goal is to meet our clients where they are comfortable.

During a livestreaming studio exclusive on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media, Upchurch had a conversation with Dave Vellante and John Furrier of theCUBE Research at SAS Innovate. Joining him was Sri Raghavan (right), principal at AWS for data science and analytics on the Amazon Marketplace. They talked about how the expanded partnership will help customers manage machine learning models and extract value from analytics. (* Disclosure found below.)

For a real-time data experience, SAS Institute and AWS collaborate.
The goal of the deepened partnership between AWS and the SAS Institute is to close the gap between analytics value and data. AWS’s Customer 360, which offers a comprehensive client view for analysis, targeting, segmentation, and personalization, is improved by this addition.

“We’re using generative AI to support Customer 360 by delivering content, which SAS then takes and sends to customers so they can interact with their banks, retailers, or healthcare providers in extremely close to real time, “The interaction of two technologies is exemplified here.”

The maker of pulp and paper, Georgia-Pacific LLC, was one client highlighted in the keynote remarks on Thursday and supported by both businesses. Users will be able to quickly develop high-performance AI models from reliable streaming data by utilizing SAS’s robust analytical tools and utilizing SAS Viya Workbench on AWS.

The manufacturing vertical has greatly benefited from Viya and the integration with that event streaming protocol, according to Upchurch. “The combination of those two items greatly influenced Georgia-Pacific’sdirectionand introduced the core component of AWS.”

Raghavan states that Georgia-Pacific’sbusinessoperations now require management of over 10,000 machine learning models.

He declared, “It’s a huge number; it’s a lot of models.” The combination of two technologies allows you to handle an enormous amount of machine learning models that are set up to help you with customer journey optimization, fraud detection, and demand management. The critical capabilities of SAS include its ability to securely manage extremely complex installations and provide real-time data service.
